Passed away peacefully at Katharine House Hospice on 20th March 2022, aged 78 years. Devoted wife of the late Iain. Loving mum to Andrew and Paul. Cherished sister to Stephanie.

I met Gwen many years ago through aqua at Hellidon and loved our weekly sessions followed by coffee and a chat..a lovely friend who I will miss a lot and will never forget.

Gwen made a huge contribution to British Ornithology. She was always very enthusiastic and helpful when I attended my first BTO conferences as a student. Later I got to know her as a valued colleague and friend when we both worked at the BTO offices in Tring in the 1980s. Subsequently all of us in the ornithological community benefited from her excellent organization of the BOU. I’m very sorry not to be able to attend her funeral and send my sincere condolences to her family and friends. A wonderful lady who will be greatly missed.
